About the publication

Our evidence lens

Independent fieldnotes for the space between a sensor reading and a training decision.

What we are here to do

Cedarwhirlbantr is an informative publication about wearable technology in professional sport. We write for performance staff, coaches and serious athletes who want to understand movement monitoring, workload and training progress without turning every measurement into a verdict.

Our central distinction is simple: measurement, interpretation and coaching judgement are different activities. A device may measure a signal well while a claim built from that signal remains uncertain. A useful article should make that boundary easier to see.

How we weigh a claim

We ask what was measured, against which reference, in which population and under what conditions. Laboratory agreement does not automatically establish field performance. Results in one sport, task or device configuration may not transfer to another. We look for methods and limitations, not only an impressive conclusion.

Peer-reviewed research and consensus statements provide context, but neither is beyond scrutiny. Manufacturer documentation is useful for operating details and metric definitions; commercial claims need separate examination. Governing-body standards can clarify the scope of testing without proving that every derived score is useful.

A measurement can be valid without answering the question you wanted to ask.

What readers will find

Our four core fieldnotes separate movement signals, workload context, longitudinal progress and staff workflow. Source notes sit beside relevant claims. Tables organise comparisons; they are not league tables of supposedly universal winners.

Examples describe decision processes rather than individual treatment plans. We do not offer a readiness score, sell a monitoring device or provide medical clearance. This publication is not affiliated with the governing bodies, research institutions or equipment suppliers mentioned in its articles.

Independence and corrections

Editorial conclusions are not offered for purchase. These pages contain no affiliate purchase links or paid device rankings. If commercial relationships are introduced, relevant content should identify them clearly rather than leaving readers to infer a conflict.

If a passage misstates a method, misses a meaningful limitation or links to an unsuitable source, write to the editors. Include the page, the specific wording and a source that helps us evaluate the issue. We assess corrections on their substance and aim to explain material changes in the affected article.

Where the boundary remains

We cannot assess an athlete’s symptoms, suitability for training or return-to-play status through this website. Those decisions belong with appropriately qualified professionals who understand the athlete’s circumstances. Good evidence supports that work; it does not replace the relationship or responsibility.
